The Tashkent Pediatric Medical Institute (TPMI) was established in 1972 in Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan. It was founded with the main objective of training highly qualified pediatricians to address the lack of pediatricians in the region and high infant mortality rates.Over the decades, TPMI has earned a reputation for its dedication to training healthcare professionals focused on child well-being. The institute offers MBBS programs in English, as well as postgraduate studies and advanced training in pediatric fields1.TPMI's programs are recognized by the Ministry of Health of Uzbekistan and hold affiliations with various international organizations, including the NMC, WHO, FAIMER, ECFMG, WDOMS, and UNESCO. The 6-year program is divided into two parts: pre-clinical and clinical studies. The pre-clinical years (years 1-2) focus on the study of fundamental subjects such as anatomy, biochemistry, physiology, and pharmacology. The clinical years (years 3-6) involve the study of specialized medical subjects like pediatrics, surgery, obstetrics and gynecology, and internal medicine.
Clinical studies begin in the second year, where students gain practical experience in nursing patients. Clinical subjects are taught from the third year onwards, providing students with hands-on experience in various medical specialties.
The medium of instruction at the Tashkent Pediatric Medical Institute, Tashkent is English, Russian and Uzbek.
